RFID PDF

What would you expect to be included in an RFID PDF?

RFID PDF is simply a term to describe an Adobe PDF document filled information about radiofrequency identification. As you have likely learned in the other articles in this website, radiofrequency identification is a way in order to track things using radiofrequency scanners and detectors. An RFID PDF will not be complete if it did not state the basic functionality of what RFID is, or the governing bodies that look over the protocols effectiveness. As stated elsewhere on this website, there are different forms of RFID at all them I use for different reasons. We will explore these different reasons next.

What Should Be in an RFID PDF?

In order to completely understand what should be in the RFID PDF and understand some of the most frequently asked questions about what RFID is. One of the most commonly asked questions about radiofrequency identification and radiofrequency identification products is simply what is it? To answer that question I will use layman's terms so that everyone can understand it. What RFID is is a way for companies or anyone else to accurately track and log people and devices by using modern technology and invisible radiofrequency waves to keep track of movements and inventory in a managed database that can be updated with the use of scanners and detectors. I know that definition wasn't exactly without $50 words but is the best I could do because we are talking about technology here.

RFID PDF- A More Detailed Explanation of the Term

If I was going to create an RFID PDF I would most certainly have to include information about the specific applications that use RFID. Probably the best example of RFID usage would be a job I used to have. Allow me to explain in detail. I used to work in A/V warehouse. Every single day UPS would come with entire truckload of inventory. Televisions, stereo receivers, HDMI cables, and other A/V gear including projectors would show up on a daily basis. In the back of the warehouse, I was responsible for logging and keeping all of this inventory in the database. Every single item would have a barcode and some would even have RFID tags for tracking. I would have an RFID scanner and the inventory would be scanned with the scanner as it came in. As the new inventory came in and was scanned with the RFID scanner product, it would be logged into the RFID Journal inside of the database. Now everything was kept track of and all the UPC codes were logged and the time they arrived was logged as well. As you can see this would've saved me hours and hours of work if I had to log them all manually with pencil and paper.

What Equipment Should Be in an RFID PDF Document?

An RFID PDF would most likely have to also include the use of RFID scanners and RFID tags in the retail environment. The next time you go to a clothing store like Ross, Dillard’s, or other another one of the popular mall chains, pay attention to the price tags. Some of these price tags will have an RFID tag on it which is no more than a very small sticker with a tiny RFID chip inside that you can't even see. Back in the day, these retail stores would have giant RFID tags the size of a tube of Chap stick Stapled to them. This is back when the technology was still new and had not gotten smaller yet.

Nowadays in the retail environment RFID tags are everywhere and on everything, quite literally. It is because of the wide usage of RFID protocol that the cost has come down so much in recent years. Back in the 1970s and RFID tag could've gotten anywhere between 10 and $50. However now in the modern world, you can get a small RFID tag for as little as five cents. The RFID cost is so low these days that the cost is almost not considered when large corporations are purchasing RFID tags. What these tags do along with the scanners that scan them, is far more valuable than the price these corporations are paying for the RFID equipment.

Also included in my RFID PDF would have to be a warning that RFID technology could be implanted in things that you do not expect them to be implanted in. So be very careful before your child steals that pack of gum! You could be in for a surprise. Keep an eye out for when I publish my RFID PDF!
